The GP609 is a grand piano without compromise. You can experience the performance of a traditional acoustic grand, whose sound has been at the heart of music for over 300 years. And you also get to explore the endless creative possibilities offered by the latest digital technology. Since creating the world’s first touch-sensitive electronic piano in 1974, Roland has become a leader in digital piano innovation – and the new GP609 embodies our belief that advanced technology and know-how can take your music further

The Roland GP609 is a digital grand piano that combines traditional grand piano aesthetics with high-end digital technology, featuring the Super NATURAL Piano Modeling sound engine and a 6.1-channel speaker system. As of 2025, the model has been discontinued and replaced by the newer Roland GP-9
Key Performance Features
  • SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling: Unlike standard sampling, this technology recreates the entire sound generation process of an acoustic piano for a richer, more complex tone.
  • PHA-50 Keyboard: A hybrid 88-key action combining wooden sides for an authentic feel with molded internal materials for long-term durability.
  • 6.1-Channel Sound System: Features seven speakers (including one woofer) designed to project sound from various directions, mimicking the resonance and spatial bloom of an acoustic grand’s soundboard.
  • Progressive Damper Action Pedal: Replicates the varying resistance of an acoustic piano pedal, supporting advanced techniques like half-pedaling
Design and Physical Specs
  • Traditional Cabinetry: Housed in a 4.9-foot (150 cm) deep baby grand cabinet available in polished ebony or polished white finishes.
  • Portability: At 325 lbs (148 kg), it is nearly half the weight of a traditional acoustic grand piano and includes built-in casters for easier movement.
  • Low Maintenance: Unlike acoustic pianos, it never requires tuning or professional maintenance for its keyboard action
Connectivity and Apps
  • Bluetooth Functionality: Supports both Bluetooth Audio (streaming music through the piano’s speakers) and Bluetooth MIDI for connecting to learning apps.
  • App Integration: Compatible with the Roland Piano Designer app for deep sound customization and Piano Partner 2 for educational features like internal song libraries and rhythm accompaniments.
  • Quiet Practice: Includes Headphones 3D Ambience technology, which optimizes the sound so it feels as if it is coming from the piano itself rather than just the headphones
